SUMMARY:May 30th: Micro Moon hike from Pantoll at 7:30PM
DESCRIPTION:We’ll leave Pantoll promptly at 7:30PM to observe an unusual situation: the Sun will set at 8:25PM and the Moon will rise at the same time.  Under twilight\, we will take the Old Stage fire road to West Point Inn. We’ll arrive just in time to admire a near Full Moon on a backdrop of city and East Bay lights(weather permitting). We will return in the dark the same way via the Old Stage fire road. \nThis hike is limited to 19 people. Please sign up via Meet-up. Check Meet-up for any updates (cancellation\,  schedule change…).\nThis hike will be led by Docent Franklin Young. Hike docents have been trained under the California State Parks Volunteers in the Park Program (VIPP).\n\n\nTrails: Stage Coach fire road (unpaved) out and back. It is suitable for low light and light rain. \n\nMeeting place: Pantoll by the Friends of Mt. Tam trailer. There is a $8 parking fee. Pay with exact change or QR code.\n\nStart time: 7:30PM \n\n\nExpected return: 10:00PM\n\n\nEasy/Moderate pace\n\n\nHeadlamp/flashlight recommended

Mt. Tam has been a special place of inspiration for many generations of artists and writers from early settlers from the Hudson Valley to the Bohemian and Beat movements. During this hike\, you will learn more about this rich history\, what happens on the Mountain today and hopefully make your own creative connection to Mt. SUMMARY:Quad 4 Bolinas Ridge Hike from Pantoll
DESCRIPTION:Join Docent Debra Hoitomt for this guided hike.\nThis hike will have some very nice ocean views\, weather permitting. It is considered a “moderate” hike. There is sustained climbing on Bolinas Ridge and Cataract. \nTrails: Matt Davis\, Bolinas Ridge Trail\, Cataract Creek\, Old Mine\n6 miles / 1000 feet elevation gain\nSign up is required\nCANCELLATIONS: Rain\, red flag days\, winds above 30 mph\, and unforeseen circumstances will cancel. Check this Meetup page  for updates\nPARKING: We strongly recommend carpooling and arriving 15 minutes early to find parking and pay parking fees. Pantoll parking requires an $8 fee.\nWATER: Bring at least two bottles of water. Most hikes do not pass by public drinking water sources.\nFOOD: There will not be a formal lunch stop. Bring your own snacks.\nPROTECTION: Ticks\, mosquitoes\, horse flies and yellow jackets are present\, but not abundant. Sunscreen or sun coverup recommended.\nSTURDY BOOTS: Trails are uneven\, rocky and can be very steep in places. DESCRIPTION:4 miles/ 150 ft elevation gain\nIn twilight we will take the Old Stage fire road to arrive at West Point Inn in time to witness the Moonrise at 7:39PM. We expect the moon will rise with a small shadow on it. By 8:12PM\, the partial eclipse will become obvious.
