SUMMARY:Pantoll Quad Hike/ Bolinas Ridge
DESCRIPTION:Join Docent Debra Hoitomt\, for this guided hike. \nThis hike is considered Challenging (more than 4 miles and varying terrain) and is limited to 19 people. Sign-up via the Meet Up app \nMEET: Pantoll Parking  Area by the Friends of Mt Tam trailer \nDEPARTURE: 9am. Expected return by 12:30 pm \nCANCELLATIONS: Rain\, red flag days\, winds above 30 mph\, and unforeseen circumstances will cancel. Check Meet Up for updates \nPARKING: We strongly recommend carpooling and arriving 15 minutes early to find parking. There is $8 fee to park at Pantoll\, Bootjack and East Peak. Bring exact change!  \nPUBLIC TRANSPORTATION:  The Marin Transit #61 bus departs from Almonte & Shoreline Hwy (Tam Junction) around 8:30 arriving Pantoll at 9 am in time for our hike.   \nWATER: Bring at least two bottles of water on hot days. Most hikes do not pass by public drinking water sources. \nFOOD: Unless stated otherwise in the hike description\, there will not be a formal lunch stop. Bring your own snacks. \nPROTECTION: Ticks\, mosquitoes\, horse flies and yellow jackets are present\, but not abundant. \nSTURDY BOOTS: Trails are uneven\, rocky and can be very steep in places. Sandals\, sneakers and running shoes are not recommended. \nHIKE DOCENTS have been trained under the California State Parks Volunteers In the Park Program (VIPP). \nThis hike is part of the “The Pantoll Quad”\, which is four epic hikes that start/end at the Pantoll Campground. Together they are 21 miles with 4\,300 feet of elevation. Individually they are 4.5 – 6.5 miles long with 500 – 1\,500 of elevation.

DESCRIPTION:On March 1st the Moon will rise by 5PM before the Sun sets. Enjoying both daylight and moonlight\, we will take the Old Stage fire road to West Point Inn. Once there\, we’ll admire the Worm Moon on a backdrop of city lights from the East Bay (weather permitting). We will return the same way via the Old Stage fire road but in the dark. \nThis hike is limited to 19 people. Please sign up via Meet-up.\nThis hike will be led by Docent Franklin Young. Hike docents have been trained under the California State Parks Volunteers in the Park Program (VIPP).\n\n\nTrails: Stage Coach fire road (unpaved). It is suitable for low light and light rain. \n\nMeeting place: Pantoll by the Friends of Mt. Tam trailer. There is a $8 parking fee. Helpful to have exact change.\n\nStart time: 5PM \n\n\nExpected return: 7:30PM\n\n\nEasy/Moderate pace\n\n\nHeadlamp/flashlight recommended

Most importantly you will earn a commemorative pin. \nThis hike is limited to 19 people. Please sign up via Meet-up.\nIt will be led by Docent Franklin Young. Hike docents have been trained under the California State Parks Volunteers in the Park Program (VIPP).\n\n\nTrails: Old Mine to Rock Spring trail to West Point Inn to Nora to Matt Davis to Bootjack \n\nMeeting place: Bootjack by the bathroom. There is a $8 parking fee. Helpful to have exact change. Parking is  limited so please carpool or take Marin Transit Bus 61 at Almonte & Shoreline Hwy (Tam Junction) or Manzanita.  It will drop you off at Bootjack just before 9AM. \n \nStart time: 9 AM \n\n\nExpected Return: 12:30PM\n\nModerate pace\n\nBring water and snacks. West Point Inn has hot drinks and snacks for sale.
