DESCRIPTION:Start the year 2020 in nature!\nCOME TO MT TAM TO HIKE OR WALK.\nPEOPLE OF ALL AGES AND ABILITIES WELCOME.\nPLUS GREAT VIEWS AND REFRESHMENTS!\n \nWhat better way to begin the new year than being at the top of the tallest mountain in Marin? \n \nWed\, January 1\, 2020\, 9:00 AM – 3:00 PM PST | Register \nMt Tamalpais State Park/ Rock Spring Trailhead and East Peak\, Stinson Beach\, CA  \nDo you like to hike? Choose between 3-4 docent-led guided hikes that start at Rock Spring Trailhead and follow different routes to East Peak and back. Kids with good hiking experience and endurance welcome! No pets. Meeting time and place for all hikes is 9:30am at Rock Spring Trailhead. Hikes are MODERATE to STRENUOUS (7-8 miles round trip). As you will arrive to the parking area\, check in at the info table to choose the hike you prefer and meet your hike leader. Wear warm layered clothing\, sturdy hiking boots\, and bring water\, snacks and lunch. \nDo you like a short\, accessible walk? Great for people who enjoy a relaxed time\, the guided walk around the accessible Verna Dunshee trail–one of the most scenic trail in the Bay Area–is an EASY\, LAID-BACK walk approximately 1 mile in length. The walk will start at the Verna Dunshee trailhead (near East Peak's bathrooms) at 11AM. Families with young children and dogs on a leash welcome. \nJust wanting to drive up the mountain and enjoy the history and the views? The Gravity Car Barn at East Peak will be open for you to learn about the rich history of this mountain. Light refreshments will be provided at the Barn thanks to our cooperating association Friends of Mt Tam. \nThe event will happen rain or shine\, although hikes’ length and time could be reduced in case of heavy downfall.
